Added post from Liverpool shoot
This is an image I took back on the 24th September 2016 during my visit to Anfield. At the time, all I was focussing on was the famous Shankly Gates which is something that represents Liverpool Football Club. However just 68 days after this image was taken, my Grandad unfortunately passed away. This was the last image I managed to capture of him and despite being him being an avid Hull City fan, the message on the gates proved to be quite fitting and very true. Therefore it has showed me how text and image can have a huge impact on not only the present but it can also mean very different things in the near and far future. Through Photoshop, I edited everything black and white except my Grandad's head and the message on the gates to take the focus on everything else in the future. I also added a lens flare in the background which in my opinion has quite a godly and spiritual feel as well as connotations of heaven and peace.

This is a video I took on the day my Grandad died in which I have captured his room aiming to focus on the different bits of texts within the room. On reflection I noticed that the text and image features captured within the minute act as a representation to his life. Such things as Fire Engine memorabilia, a service he was involved in for a large part of his life, to things such as Hull City related items who he supported all his life. I have also added a black and white filter to the video which connotes ideas of history and a 'in the past' nature. I've also added a heartbeat in the background as a sign that although he has passed away, the text lives on as a representation of his life.
Another feature of text and image following a person's death was sympathy cards. This once again shows the versatility text and image actually is as the purpose of something like this is to pay your respects to family and friends related to the person who has died. They're usually black and white as bright colours would possibly be considered as inappropriate as it isn't a happy and enjoyable period. Through editing I added a white vignette which I believe with the inclusion of a shadow feature also, creates quite a heaven-like effect which is something that is related to death and the afterlife.
