Christmas Text and Image Shoot
What I noticed immediately when looking at my theme of Text and Image at Christmas is that in some cases text is very minimal. Within this first image, the only text is the name of the college where the tree actually is. A reason for this could potentially be that Christmas is more of a symbol now therefore the inclusion of text may not be needed.
Luckily at the time I did this shoot, there was a board next to the Christmas tree stating the reasons on the reasons why you should choose to go to Wilberforce College. One of the standout labels in my opinion was 'Bright futures' as this is ultimately why you go to college, to get a better future for yourself. And therefore I have kept this specific text on the sign 'Bright' whilst at the same time keeping the colour of some of the decorations on the tree which reinforces the 'Bright futures' idea. The significant contrast between the pink and the darkness almost highlights some peoples thoughts on how college is make or break; you either succeed or fail.
I followed up the Christmas tree shoot by taking pictures of decorations in my home. One thing I pictured was this hanging text image labelled, 'Santa's on his way...'. Also in the frame were little decorations and some flower. The predominant colour of all these object was red which is also a strong colour related to Christmas. The colour red has connotations of warmth, love and togetherness which is probably why it is used so much at Christmas.
